Oliver Crossley
ASSOCIATE PHYSIOTHERAPIST
“After a year of practising Yoga and a journey to India teaching English in a Tibetan Buddhist monastery, I quickly realised that my plan of studying economics and a career in banking wasn’t for me. Remembering my late grandma, who was a Physio from 1945 until the 1970s, I felt a pull to study Physiotherapy and combine it with my Yoga practice/studies long term.
Nearly 8 years after that decision, I’m couldn’t be more grateful for where I am and the work I do. As Physiotherapy changes and shifts with our growing understanding of pain and neuroscience, I feel the broader view which Yoga brings to treating people in pain is more relevant and needed than ever before.
In my work, I like to bring a holistic perspective to helping people with pain and injury, blending hands-on treatment, personalised movement coaching and shared decision making to get people back to what they love doing.
I have a particular interest in Spine, Hip and Chronic/Persistent Pain conditions. I also offer Clinical Yoga therapy alongside regular Physiotherapy sessions, where I provide personalised Yoga coaching and instruction for the specific requirements/conditions of the person.
When I’m not at the clinic, you’ll find me upstairs at my home away from home – the Gold Coast Yoga Centre. I also co-run a Yoga Teacher training program through Jala Yoga in Burleigh, teach every Wednesday at Lighten Up in Robina and love getting out for a surf or run as often as I can.”
